Production Accountant, Non-Fiction

As a key member of our Production Finance and Accounting team, you will be involved in all aspects of Accounting from development through post production on Documentary features and series. You will work closely with both the Docs, Corporate Accounting and Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely accounting ledgers are kept across multiple active projects, each in various stages. 

Initial Responsibilities

  • Oversee project-based accountants from pre-production through delivery as it relates to onboarding, introducing processes, and sharing accounting manuals
  • Serve as main production accountant on select features (bandwidth permitting)
  • Manage, track and process all development spend including but not limited to accounts payable, payroll, pcard, purchase orders, and cost reporting
  • Oversee the accounting wrap and delivery process
  • Manage and track funding & cashflow for all doc projects including above-the-line milestone payments 
  • Set up production accounting infrastructure as it relates to bank account, payroll, pcard, and accounting systems
  • Maintain accounting procedures manual, ensure implementation of best practices, financial controls and cash management 
  • Liaise with any partners’ or networks’ production finance and accounting teams
  • Manage various audits including tax credits, insurance claims, union audits and partner specific audits
  • Corporate reconciliation of production costs and funding activity 
  • Work closely with multiple internal and external teams to be liaison for all things production accounting for Docs department


  • 3-5 years of previous experience with production accounting
  • Experience working in-house for a studio or production company in a production finance / accounting role
  • Experience working with production accounting software and Movie Magic Budgeting
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business with an emphasis in accounting, or a related field preferred
  • Motivated self-starter skilled in multitasking, time management, and strong organizational skills
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Humble, diligent and resourceful
